Surgery Update

Josh's surgery went well. The liver has stopped bleeding which was the main concern of the doctors. They took out all of the packs that were in his stomach to help stop the bleeding.  They did find a hematoma (kind of like a blood blister) on his bowels somewhere. They are not concerned about this and say that it should heal on its own. There will be an x-ray done on him in the morning to make sure that there are no stray packs or surgery instruments left inside. If there is something left inside there will be surgery on Sunday to retrieve it. If not, there will be surgery on Wednesday to check on the hematoma and start the process of closing Josh up.

If everything continues to go well, the doctors are hoping to start letting Josh breathe on his own. If this goes well, they are hoping to start waking him up soon. Everything is going as well as can be hoped right now.

We would like to announce that Shannon Martineau is the winner of the IPAD2 raffle at the Community Carnival that was at Red Mountain Elementary tonight. The St. John family would like to express their gratitude to everyone that bought raffle tickets, and to everyone that made the raffle possible.

Thank You.

Friday Update

Josh is doing as well as can be expected today. There is not a whole lot of information to report. There is a surgery planned for this evening after 4pm. We do not know the exact time. After we get word of how the surgery went, we will post again. Thank you for your prayers and all that is being done for our family.

There is a donation account that has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union in the name of Josh St. John if there are individuals that would like to contribute to the family. We are also working on getting a donation link on the blog.

Please remember to go to the Community Carnival at Red Mountain Elementary in Ivins tonight from 5-8 pm. The raffle for the IPAD2 will be help in the gym. Raffle tickets are $1 and you do not need to be present to win. All of the proceeds from this raffle will be given to the St. John family. Thank again to St. George Steel, Alison's Pantry and Collen Willden for the donation of the IPAD2.

Denise wishes to thank everyone that has been praying and continues to pray and take care of the family during this time.

Thursday, September 29, 2011 Update

Josh had a really good night last night. His blood pressure is up where the doctors would like it to be. The dialysis will being ongoing to continue to relive stress on the other organs of the body to allow for healing. For now, everything is staying how it is to allow Josh's body to stabilize. There is a surgery planned for tomorrow, and the doctors will decide what the next steps will be after that point.

The rest of the family is doing well. The kids are all back to school. They are very grateful for the dinners and groceries that have been brought in to take care of the family.

Thanks again for everything you are doing to help out the St. John Family. Please pass on your knowledge of this blog to others so that everyone who wants to be informed can be.

Thoughts from Denise

Denise wants to make sure that EVERYONE knows that she is extremely grateful and aware of everyone that is praying and helping out in anyway. Our family could not have made it this far with out you. Thank You so much, and thanks for everything that is ongoing and continuing as we find out what is next on the road to recovery.

The Story. . .

This statement was released on the morning of September 28, 2011.
Josh St. John was injured due to an equipment malfunction at work yesterday morning that caused him to fall 20-30 feet. He sustained a number of injuries, the most serious of which were internal. He is currently in the hospital with his family, but cannot have other visitors yet. Doctors are actively working to stabilize his internal injuries, and he is showing improvement today on a number of levels. Miraculously, the CT scans did not indicate any head or spinal injuries. The family is very grateful for all the well-wishes and prayers, as well as the privacy they have been afforded during this time.
We feel as if this sums up the incident nicely.
Since this time, Josh has improved in a few small ways. Some of his levels have evened out. We aren't sure what they all mean, or how to explain them, we just know they are getting a bit better. He is starting to come around and respond just a little bit, but doctors are keeping him sedated to further the healing process. The doctors have started him on dialysis to take some stress off of the other organs as they are trying to heal.
We will update this blog on a daily basis (hopefully). We will try to keep you as informed as possible while still affording the family the privacy they need.
If you do wish to contact the family, please email through teamstjohn@gmail.com. Your messages will be made available to the family.
Thanks Again for everything you are doing!

Welcome to the Blog

Hello!

The purpose of this blog will be for Denise and the family to keep the outside world updated on Josh's condition. It has been very difficult to keep up with who knows what about everything. We are asking that this blog be consulted for answers to your questions, and that phone calls be kept to a minimum.  The family is very appreciative of  all of the love, support, and prayers they have received thus far, and are thankful for all that continues to flood in.
