Today was a big day, lots going on. We got the ok to have the kids sneak in and see Josh for a quick visit. The nurse and I planned it so that he would be sitting up in the cardiac chair when they came. I went to watch Brayd march with the band in a parade this morning and then we brought the kids over to the hospital. Josh was sitting up really well, his neck is very weak so he can't hold his head up all of the way. He was not able to talk with them but he held hands and gave them a thumbs up. I think it was really good for them and for him, they have missed each other to long. Josh also had some ice chips today, he did really well with them and was excited to have something wet in his mouth, it has been so dry. He is now off the precedex and down on the morphine, only two drips now he is doing so good! He looks really good. He is resting tonight on the mask to help him breath and a sleeping pill, doing well so far. Earlier this evening when I got back he had been pulling on different wires and things were not registering on the monitor, also his oxygen tube by his nose was all messed up. He knows when no one is watching!
Today as I watched Brayd finish the last of his parade and as I was thinking about taking the kids to see Josh I was overwhelmed with emotion, it has been so long for them. My cute little Camden said that he thought that his dad really died and that we were just not telling him, oh how sad! It is so hard to tell how this has affected him by his actions, but his words are loud and clear. I am so glad that Josh was well enough to have the kids visit today. My dad asked our littlest one if he had been to see his dad and he said, I found my daddy! Oh how precious two year olds are, I try and soak him up every time I am around him. I miss my kids terribly, but how can I leave Josh like he his, he needs me here too. Even as I write he is trying to take the mask off his face, his sleeping pill didn't last all that long.
One day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time.........Love Denise
