Sunday

Josh has been more awake today, they have lowered one of the sedatives again. It has been nice to communicate with him again, even though he can't talk he will at least nod or shake his head to questions. His white blood cell count is within normal range today, which is very encouraging. He hasn't had a fever today! We'll see how tonight goes, they are always worse at night. This mornings x-ray of his lungs shows things improving. They haven't changed the settings on the ventilator for a few days, but his respiratory rate is getting a lot better so soon they will be able to lower them again. He has been more relaxed this time around with being more awake and having the tubes in his mouth. Glad that Monday is almost here!

Josh's family went back to Salt Lake today, it was good for Josh's mom to see him awake before she left. I am glad that she was here, but it is time for her to go and be with Josh's sister who had a baby the same day as Josh's accident. Little Lucas is still in the hospital, but doing well from what I have heard, prayers for him too! I have found myself trying to read Josh's facial expressions today, sometimes he doesn't want to shake his head, he will however give me lots of different looks with his eyes and his eye brows move up and down and in. I do know that when he shrugs his shoulder a bit and tilts his head and rolls his eyes he is saying "whatever". He is always telling me I can't read your mind! Well I now know what he means, but at least I am trying. :) I am grateful for all of you that pray for our family, may God bless you for you kindness. Love you all, Denise

  2. Dear Denise,
Our missionary son, Derek, sent his last e-mail before leaving for the Philippines today, and asked me to tell you and Josh that he is thinking about you and praying for you. My Mom always says that the prayer of a missionary is especially heard:) Just wanted you to know. We think about you all the time, and pray for you every day. Oh, and we were in the Provo Temple on Friday, and put Josh's name, and family, on the prayer roll:) Love and God Bless, Gary and Cathy Baker
