Well today was not the day, his blood gases were not high enough to get off the ventilator. They are giving him meds to get rid of some of the fluids that his body is holding on to and that should help with his breathing. Again at rounds Dr. Taub said 24-48 hrs to go, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. He was able to switch from fentanyl to morphine. He has also been taken off the drip for his heart rate and if it gets to high now he will get the meds through his feeding tube. He has been restless today, he keeps shaking his legs. He can reach the top of his head with his right hand, left hand is still floppy. Still no word from the neurologist about his neck. Please pray for him, he really wants the ventilator out. He has been good so far about leaving it alone, but I really don't think that will last long.
I have had a hard time staying awake today! Every time I sit down I want to sleep, I will try to get a bit more sleep tonight. Other than today this week has gone by fast, I can't believe that Friday is almost here. I would like to see Josh out of the ICU before we mark 4 weeks but I don't know if that will happen. From what I have heard once the ventilator is out things will go a little faster. I think we are all wondering how much longer we can do this. The kids miss us both, I miss them and him. I wish I had two of me, then I could be with them and him. We might be able to sneek the kids in when he gets off the ventilator, we are right by the back door to the ICU, we'll see if they let us. I think it would be good for them and for him. Thanks to all of the great nurses and doctors here in the ICU! I really appreciate all of the love and help that continues for our family, Loves Denise

ReplyDeleteHi Denise
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your comments for the day, my heart just breaks for you, the kids and of course Josh. Your family are always on my mind, in my heart and always in my prayers. I hope so much that this will be over for you soon and the venilator can be taken out so the healing process can move along alittle faster.
I love you for the woman that you are Denise. Love Dad
