Josh gave it his all with the breathing machine, he was exhausted this morning. He really worked hard the entire time he had it on. The normal person takes 20 or less breaths per minute and he was at 50. So in order to let him rest he had to be put back on the ventilator. The good news is he is finally able to rest and catch a breath. They said they would like to give it at least 72 hrs, so we'll see what happens with it on Monday. He also had another feeding tube placed, a camera with suction put into his lungs to clear them out, and a shoulder x-ray. Things went well with the feeding tube, it only took one try to get it right. I don't have a confirmation on his shoulder yet but the nurse said it didn't look like it was broke from the x-ray. They took a sample from his lungs to make sure he is on the best antibiotics. The CT from yesterday looked good, nothing to worry about! Happy about that! Last night his blood volume was a little low and he needed a couple of units. Well it turns out that he now has some antibodies and needs a special formula so that his blood doesn't attack the new blood. They flew in his very own special formula very early this morning from Vegas, that's my Joshy.
So today I am happy to see him more comfortable, not so happy about the vent but it's helping him so much that I know it was the best thing for him. By the time he gets it off again his body will be that much more healed and he will be in less pain. Now if Monday would not take so long to get here. I may take a little more time for the kids this weekend, they are really missing us both. I am so tired when I go home at night and by the time I eat and shower we really don't have much time before I leave again. Maybe a dollar movie and a cheap kid friendly place to eat that doesn't include Ronald McDonald, blah! I really hope that things go well enough for them to see Josh next week. As long as the fever goes away they said they would sneak them in the back door. I would also want him to be off the ventilator before that. Let's pray that this pneumonia will heal quickly. His lungs are the major issue right now. I appreciate the cards, donations, service, comments and emails so much. I can't even tell you how grateful I am for everything. Love to all, Denise
It has been along time since I have shed this many tears but it is all for a good cause. I am so thankful for all of the doctor, and the nurses for all of their caring and the work that they are doing in Josh,s behalf. That yo all again.
